Time heals all wounds, or so it goes. But time doesn’t heal your wounds so much as it kills you so you no longer feel the pain of the wound. Then it replaces you with another you, with the same wound, except the wound doesn’t hurt as much. And eventually, you’re replaced by your future self with just a scar. The pain is all gone, but you’ll still have a reminder. You’ll die so many deaths before hurting becomes remembering that you were hurt. If you’re lucky and you’ve many more deaths to go before your final one, you’ll be replaced by someone who’s forgotten the pain and no longer realizes that there’s a scar left, if there’s any at all. In short, you’ll be your old self again. Except you’re just your old self. And then you die. Forever after, feeling no pain or anything at all for that matter.

Hey, at least you were born. And it’s a good thing that we don’t remember the pain from the ordeal of birth.

It is also said that time is theft, and that’s also true. Just as it takes your pain away, it also kills you when you’re feeling good. And it replaces you with someone who just remembers feeling good. And if you’re lucky, you’ll forget the good times, too. Because the worst part about getting old is remembering when you were young.
