When something is burnt, it is changed forever. I don’t mean first- or second-degree burnsI mean third-degree burns and that kind of thing. When something is burnt to a crisp, often blackened. Things and stuff that were once useful or meaningful have lost their original usefulness or meaning. All that’s left are charred remains. There is no going back. One can choose to let it be and just give up, or they can roll up their sleeves and start over again if at all possible.

If your farmland is scorched, you’re better off finding somewhere else to re-grow your crops. If your house and all your belongings are destroyed in a fire, starting over is really hard to do but what choice have you got? And, figuratively speaking, when your life is burntwhen you’ve lost all your friends, your job, your money, and maybe even your hopes and dreamswhat do you do? How do you start over? What do you start with?

I wish I knew.

February 6, 2001 - I Want To Live Long Enough To???

I want to live long enough to see the day when the word cunt is no longer obscene. When an atheist woman can be the president of the United States. When there is no longer a United States or any political divisions on this planet. When marriage is seen as an odd thing of yesteryear. When most people are brought up to think for themselves. When schools teach critical thinking skills and how to learn by one’s self. And, consequently, when people will stop being bored so easily.

Yes, that would be a very long time indeed. Maybe never. But I’d still like to live and see if it ever happens. And doing so might be possible.
